The County Supervizor goes to begin his speech, but is interrupted by the opening cerenomey being played by the elementry school band.
And at the Burdock Elementry, all of the kids were playing something. Three of the more musically accomplished students were on recorders.
The aspiring country star was plinking away on a banjo. Somebody was chording on a electronic piano from the Bigg Clubb. The rest of thje upper grades were blasting away on kazoos.
The balance of the school was filling in the chorus with rhythym sticks, assorted bells. The rhythym section was keeping time on drums made from coffee cans and painted as a result of art class.
Trying to take in the acoustic fanfare, I asked one of the bystanders, "Know what they’re playing?"
The bystander tells me knowingly, "When the Saints Come Marching In, sort of a Mardi Gras theme."
