"And as I was saying," Mr. Drollinger continues, "Grampa Drollinger got tired of the batteries going out and having to walk home to get the team to drive his new electro-mobile home. So he took to using a rope to lead a horse to town tied to the back of the electro-mobile," Ed Drollinger bobs his head, "He drove it slow anyways; and that way if the electro-mobile ran out of juice and couldn’t make it home from Burdock, he’d just hithch the horse to the front and make it home the old-buggy-way."
"Smart feller’" I agree.
Ed Drollinger nods and says in an even voice, "And you kinow what Grampa Drollinger took to calling the horse?"
"Took to calling the horse, ‘the Spare," Ed smiles "sort of a case of the Equine Irony, or Iron Horse irony."
