Tough Talliies

“Tough Tallies,” the horse-farmer shrugs indiffently, I always show up twice a month, preferably Thursdays to et whatever I need ground up. This week it was corn for the chickens.”
“So you’re here today,” the elevater guy figures up.
“To have this ear corn ground up,” the horse farmer grins, “makes a good base for the chickens’ feed.”
“Just pull up there to the grinder,” the elevater guy offers.
The Horse-rfarmer leans over. shakes the reins for a moment and the team of horses start up and lug the wagon of corn over to the grate by the grinder.
“Precision work,” I remark.
“The boys here have done it plenty,” the horse-farmer grins, “But they’re pretty smart too,”
